Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival

The Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival normally takes place each fall in Banff, Alberta, Canada. We promote understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share and find inspiration in mountain experiences, ideas, and visions. Following the festival each fall, our annual World Tour reaches more than 40 countries on 7 continents, making us the largest adventure film tour on the planet.

The 2024 festival takes place Oct 26-Nov 3.

Photo Essay Competition: Submit a series of 3 to 5 images to illustrate mountain-related stories whether culture, adventure, wildlife, sport, environment, or natural history. Grand prize $3,000CAD. Deadline: May 6, 2024.

Book Competition: All authors and publishers are invited to submit entries to this internationally recognized literary competition that celebrates mountain literature in all its forms. Over $29,000 in cash is awarded annually with eight awards selected by an international jury of writers, adventurers and editors. Deadline: Jul 2, 2024.

Banff Mountain Film Competition: Bring the magic of mountain landscape, culture, and adventure to an international audience. Your film could reach more than 550,000 people if selected for the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. $35,000 CAD in cash and prizes to be awarded. Deadline: Aug 1, 2024.
