The US elections in November will shape whether the world’s biggest economy leaves the Paris Agreement or launches a Green New Deal to meet the agreement’s goal of keeping temperature rise “well below” 2 degrees Celsius. And polls indicate that most Americans, across the political spectrum, are concerned about climate change.  

Will newsrooms make the climate story central to our 2020 campaign coverage? How can we best tell this story amid the pandemic, economic collapse and racial justice protests rightly occupying our attention? What are the opportunities to pursue—and the pitfalls to avoid?
