DEADLINE: McCormick Specialized Reporting Institute on Energy Solutions

Event Date:
August 12, 2009
Are you writing about energy costs, examining trends in the global energy market or trying to explain cap-and-trade programs? Do you want to better understand pending energy legislation and how it might impact your community?

If so, you can join a select group of journalists from across the country for the McCormick Specialized Reporting Institute on Energy Solutions. This all-expenses-paid conference will convene September 20-22 at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

The goal of the McCormick Energy Solutions Conference is to provide a small group of journalists with direct access to national leaders and the time to delve deeper into energy research and policy analysis. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr. Steven Koonin, newly appointed Under Secretary for Science, U.S. Department of Energy

  • Richard Sandor, “father of carbon trading” and founder of Chicago Climate Exchange

  • Don McConnell, President of Energy Technology at Battelle, the world’s largest nonprofit research and development organization

The Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism, one of the nation’s longest-running journalism fellowship programs and a leader in the digital media field, is co-hosting this conference with the John Glenn School of Public Affairs, Ohio State’s Institute for Energy and the Environment and Battelle. Due to the generous support of the McCormick Foundation, a leading public charity and journalism supporter, the Kiplinger Program will provide meals, lodging and a travel stipend for journalists selected to attend.

Apply by August 12, 2009.
