DEADLINE: NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship

Event Date:
December 5, 2024

Natural Resources Defense Council's Rewrite the Future, in partnership with the Black List, CAA Foundation, NBCUniversal, and the Redford Center, launched the fourth-annual NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship, which aims to help screenwriters tell more impactful climate stories by offering financial grants and creative support for scripts with new perspectives on climate change (announcement here).

The fellowship will award $20,000 to three writers to support revisions of a feature screenplay or pilot that engages with climate change in a compelling way. Fellows will receive creative support, including consultation with Rewrite the Future and six months of mentorship from an established screenwriter with an interest in climate storytelling.

Mentors for the 2024 fellowship include Mike Schur ("The Good Place," "Parks and Recreation," "Brooklyn 99"), Daniel Scheinert ("Everything Everywhere All At Once," "Swiss Army Man") and Brit Marling ("A Murder at the End of the World," "The OA").

Writers are encouraged to submit work that depicts climate solutions and/or a more just and equitable future, helping to expand our climate narrative beyond disaster and apocalypse.
