ICFJ Webinar: Covering the Climate Crisis – What You Need to Know

Event Date:
January 20, 2022

This is the first webinar in a new series expanding the International Center for Journalists's program beyond COVID-19 for the newly launched ICFJ Pamela Howard Forum on Global Crisis Reporting. We are honored to name this crucial initiative after ICFJ Vice Chair Pamela Howard, a dedicated supporter of our work for over 20 years.

What: A panel with Yessenia Funes (Atmos), Steven Mufson (The Washington Post), Eric Roston (Bloomberg) and Lauren Sommer (NPR). Hosted by ICFJ President Sharon Moshavi.

When: Thursday, January 20 at 1 pm ET

Join us for a conversation with top U.S. reporters covering one of the most important issues of our time – the climate crisis. They will discuss everything from how to interpret the science to tracking government progress on climate change goals to the politics of covering such a charged topic.

While the burdens of climate change are already keenly felt in some parts of the world, it seems to be a distant story elsewhere. The issue has also been hotly politicized, challenging the journalist’s role as an unbiased messenger of truth.

In this first webinar for the ICFJ Pamela Howard Forum on Global Crisis Reporting, we will focus on how to effectively cover the climate crisis locally and globally. We will be hosting a panel of top climate reporters who will share their experiences on covering climate change, the science and its consequences.
