#ProtectWhatWeLove: Artifacts From Floods & Fires in Canada — Stories of Loss & Resilience
#ProtectWhatWeLove: Artifacts from floods and fires in Canada: Stories of loss & resilience
What one object would you save if your home was about to be destroyed by a flood or wildfire?
Sierra Club Canada invites you to visit this powerful exhibit during New York Climate Week that features artifacts damaged or rescued from recent extreme weather events in Canada including the 2023 wildfires that filled skies across Canada and beyond, from New York to Norway, with smoke. Together, the artifacts paint an intimate and unforgettable picture of how climate change is already devastating lives, uprooting families and destroying livelihoods. Climate survivors will be on-site to share their stories of loss and resilience.
The installation underlines the urgent need to cap rising oil and gas emissions that are driving climate change and contributing to more frequent and intense floods, fires, droughts and heatwaves in Canada and around the world.
This in-person event will take place at 148 E 40th St., New York, NY 10016
When: Tuesday, September 24, 2024 · 10am - 7pm EDT
Free for members of the public. Registration recommended as space is limited.
