Colorado simultaneously boasts and suffers from a population explosion in Denver and other cities. This purple state is fertile ground for both clashes and collaborations among parties vying for rights to land, water and air, whether to preserve it for wildlife and human recreation or to exploit it for energy extraction. Climate Change
Visit leading-edge atmospheric research centers. Witness impacts from wildfires, drought and species loss. Learn about statewide GHG-reduction, renewable-energy initiatives and other solutions.

Energy
The Front Range is a flashpoint for oil and gas activities and anti-fracking activism, as well as a hotbed for wind and solar development.

Water
It’s Colorado's lifeblood, and it's in short supply, inciting urban v. rural, east v. west battles. The Colorado River overflows with stories, as its flows dwindle.

Food and Agriculture
Massive CAFOs, regenerative ranching, natural foods entrepreneurism, the marijuana boom's controversial eco track record: Colorado has it all.

Environmental Health
Lower-income metro communities suffer most acutely from air pollution from vehicles, while country dwellers suffer from oil and gas emissions.
