Metcalf Institute is partnering with the National Adaptation Forum and EcoAdapt to present a free, day and a half-long seminar (May 12-13, 2015) and optional field trip as part of the National Adaptation Forum, May 12-14, in St. Louis, Missouri. The Forum will provide a rare opportunity for journalists to meet adaptation experts from across the nation representing local, state, regional, tribal and federal interests and will focus on climate change impacts and adaptation efforts ranging from the transportation, insurance and disaster risk management sectors to architecture, agriculture, and environmental justice. Metcalf Institute's 27th Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists at the University of Rhode Island, June 8-13, 2025, is for full-time journalists to learn how food systems are being affected by global climate change, exploring traditional Western approaches and TEK and Indigenous food ways. Food issues and sustainability are under the spotlight at a free regional journalist meet-up in in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 10. A field trip to an area farm (homemade lunch included) will show innovations in sustainable agriculture, while a panel discussion showcases Saratoga’s grassroots actions for creating a more sustainable city-scape. The day will conclude with a panel that will give you the tools you need to move your GMO coverage from reporting on superficial disagreements to a deeper examination of the benefits and threats implicit in this technology.
