"Biden Plans to Nominate Law Professor for Chemical Safety Board"

"President Joe Biden has tapped Catherine J.K. Sandoval for the US Chemical Hazard and Safety Investigation Board.

The White House on Wednesday announced Biden’s intent to nominate Sandoval, currently a professor at California’s Santa Clara University. If confirmed, she would become the independent agency’s fourth member, leaving one vacant seat.

The board and its staff of investigators are charged with looking into the causes of major chemical-related industrial catastrophes, such as refinery explosions, and making recommendations for avoiding new accidents."
