"Anadarko Petroleum Corp., a minority investor in BP's failed Macondo well, is on the hook for federal pollution fines for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, regardless of whether the company was responsible for the disaster, a federal judge said Monday (Feb. 2).
Houston-based Anadarko has asked U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier not to impose a Clean Water Act fine on the company because it was not responsible for the environmental disaster.
Barbier is hearing testimony this week as part of the 2010 oil spill trial's third and final phase to determine fines under federal pollution laws."
