"Federal scientists are finding increasing skin and liver tumors in bottom-feeding fish caught in several of Wisconsin's Lake Michigan tributaries that flow through areas with particularly severe environmental problems.
According to a three-year U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) study published Aug. 20 in the Journal of Fish Diseases, researchers found a high rate of unsightly cancers on white suckers upstream of Sheboygan and Milwaukee.
The Sheboygan River and Milwaukee Estuary are on the international Great Lakes "Area of Concern" (AOC) list of toxic hot spots."
