"Leader of Nuclear Agency Hears Litany of Objections"

"WASHINGTON -- In exchanges that ranged from merely testy to caustic, four members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission told a House committee on Wednesday that their chairman had withheld information from them, berated the agency’s professional staff, reduced female employees to tears with abusive comments and created a 'chilled' atmosphere that was hurting the agency’s ability to function."

"Members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform were even tougher on the commission’s chairman, Gregory B. Jaczko, who sat impassively in the middle of the commissioners as they testified at the hearing. Referring to a report by the committee’s staff members asserting that Dr. Jaczko once gaveled a colleague to silence in midsentence and walked out of a meeting during a discussion of the Fukushima crisis in Japan that was not going his way... .

Another committee member, Representative Dennis J. Kucinich, Democrat of Ohio, quickly pointed out that the accusations against Dr. Jaczko were 'not allegations of criminal misconduct -- they’re allegations of not getting along with the commission.'"
