Louisville Water Co. Reduces Pollutant Chromium 6 in Drinking Water

"The Louisville Water Co. has sharply lowered the levels of hexavelent chromium, a suspected carcinogen, in drinking water after solving a puzzle about the source of the pollutant."

"The concentrations were already very low — less than one part per billion — but they had exceeded safety goals for California, which often leads the nation in establishing environmental health standards.

The Environmental Working Group had identified Louisville as one of 31 cities where tap water tests in 2010 had detected hexavalant chromium, a suspected carcinogen made famous by California environmental health advocate Erin Brockovich."
