"“Our city of Asheville water crews, they’re going to have so much work to do in the coming weeks,” Assistant City Manager Ben Woody said."
"North Carolina officials are still scrambling to restore water in areas pummeled by Hurricane Helene nearly two weeks ago.
Helene wreaked havoc on virtually every element of the water supply system in Asheville, underscoring the growing threats to clean drinking water that come with more frequent extreme storms.
Officials are now close to repairing a 36-inch water bypass line that was destroyed by the storm and is needed to get water to the city’s treatment plant, Asheville Assistant City Manager Ben Woody said Wednesday."
