"Federal regulators will take more time to review the proposed PennEast Pipeline than the $1.2 billion project's developers had requested.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission this week set a Dec. 16 deadline for issuing a notice of availability of the final environmental impact statement, and a March 2017 deadline for a federal decision on authorization. PennEast, which is sponsored by UGI Corp. of Valley Forge, had requested a final deadline of August.
Pipeline and power-transmission projects nationwide are experiencing longer regulatory timetables because of the increased involvement of organized public opposition in the process. The 119-mile PennEast project would deliver Marcellus Shale natural gas from Northeast Pennsylvania to New Jersey utilities."
