"In the aftermath of a deadly gas explosion in San Bruno this year, a Sacramento school district is considering the unthinkable: Closing a school in the middle of the school year and transferring all its students to another campus or campuses.
Tonight's Twin Rivers Unified School District agenda lists a discussion by trustees of the 'abandonment of Harmon Johnson Elementary School and relocation of students, faculty and staff,' because of the school's proximity to a potentially problematic gas line.
'The possibility of moving students and staff in the middle of the school year would be incredibly challenging,' district spokeswoman Trinette Marquis said Wednesday. 'But, if there is a risk out there, we don't have any choice.'"
