"Supplies, Roads Begin To Reach Communities Cut Off by Irene"

"The Vermont National Guard will try today to reach the town of Wardsboro, the only Vermont town without a road — even a makeshift one — to the outside world."

""We've been in contact with them," said Robert Stirewalt, a spokesman at Vermont Emergency Management, this morning. "We're going to try to get to them today."

The Guard will fly into the town, on Vermont 100 in south-central Vermont, to deliver food, Stirewalt said."
