Stanford Professor Paul Ehrlich stands as a seminal figure in the modern environmental movement -- his 1968 best-seller "The Population Bomb" popularized the idea that that human population and economic growth could not be sustained forever in a world where natural resources are finite. He is also the whipping-boy of the anti-regulatory lobby because of the fact that his predictions of Malthusian catastrophe have not come true. Yet.
Ehrlich is profiled in the Summer 2009 issue of Earth Island Journal by Tom Turner, editor-at-large for Earthjustice and the author of "Roadless Rules -- The Struggle for the Last Wild Forests."
