"VANCOUVER — The Vancouver School Board is planning to entirely eliminate the presence of lead in all school drinking water after the board voted yes to several water-safety motions at the Sept. 24 board meeting.
The motions follow recommendations put forward in the district’s own report on lead in drinking water and will see the school district adopt stricter requirements on drinking water lead levels and alert parents to current issues around lead in water.
The district “is moving immediately to start the process” of making a plan to replace older drinking-water fountains with new water fill stations, said Carrie Bercic, a trustee who proposed one of the motions."
