John lives on the outskirts of Portland, Ore., where he finds himself surrounded by animals and cartoonists.
John has been an SEJ member since 2010 and said, "Writing about environmental issues often requires diving into some deep emotional waters. SEJ is my lifeguard, my safety net, my support system, helping to ensure that I never feel isolated or sink into the darkness. Together we focus not just on problems, but on necessary solutions. That shared experience has kept me afloat."
