The Center for Food Safety (CFS) has sued an Agriculture Department agency under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for withholding information on genetically modified crops (GMOs).
CFS, a nonprofit, Washington-based environmental health advocacy group, had sought various information over a period of 13 years from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), an agency with major responsibility for overseeing and regulating GMO crops.
CFS charges in the suit, filed August 25, 2015, that APHIS violated the federal FOIA by not responding to requests and withholding information.
